We The Kings Aren't Backing Down In Their New 'Art Of War' Lyric Video

We The Kings demonstrate resolve in their 'Art Of War' lyric video.
"No label, No limits, just us and the fans working TOGETHER," is how We The Kingsexplained their crowdfunding campaign to record their fourth album earlier this fall. Welp, turns out crowdfunding really works! The band not only met their goal in under a day, but they surpassed it by five times.
Fans who helped raise cash for We The Kings' new album finally got to hear the results yesterday; the band self-released their new album, Somewhere Somehow, which quickly went to No. 2 on the iTunes chartsWho says DIY is dead?
Now, topping off a solid release week, the Florida band has a new lyric video for their latest single, "Art Of War." Check it out below!
Watch We The King's "Art Of War" lyric video after the jump.
The "Art Of War" sounds like it could be a report from behind the lines in the music business, but the lilting, fragile ballad is another in the long line of "love and friendship as a battle" metaphors. "We were just two kids thrown into the flames/ We would never, ever be the same," Travis Clark sings.
Though the song was originally supposed to appear on The Hunger Games: Catching Firesoundtrack, it didn't end up making the final cut. Too bad, as it would've been a good fit, what with its story of perseverance against the odds and its vaguely unsettling tone.
"The Art of War," incidentally, is a reference to ancient Chinese military texts written by Sun Tzu, who was known for indelible wisdom like "To know your Enemy, you must become your Enemy." That may well be true, but when is someone going to get around to writing a manual called "The Art of Love"?  Seems like a lot of people out there could still use it.
The band won't be on tour until the spring, but Somewhere Somehow is available now, and more seasonally minded fans can download their Christmas single here.
